Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, Has Passed Away
According to the medical team who had been graciously entrusted with the care of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, Their Majesties had graciously consented to Her Majesty’s admission to King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Bangkok, since 7 September 2019, for continued medical treatment and observation of various health conditions, as had been previously announced to the public.
During Her Majesty’s stay at the hospital, Her Majesty the Queen Mother experienced several episodes of illness. The medical team detected abnormalities in multiple organ systems, requiring sustained and delicate medical attention.
On 17 October 2025, Her Majesty developed a bloodstream infection (septicemia). Although the team of physicians provided the most dedicated and comprehensive treatment possible, Her Majesty’s condition progressively deteriorated. On Friday, 24 October 2025, at 9:21 p.m., Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, peacefully passed away at the age of 93.
His Majesty the King has graciously commanded the Bureau of the Royal Household to arrange the royal funeral rites with the highest honors in accordance with royal tradition. Her Majesty’s royal remains will be enshrined at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall, within the Grand Palace.
His Majesty has further graciously decreed that members of the royal family and officials of the royal court shall observe a mourning period of one year from the date of Her Majesty’s passing.
